Abelvideo was born from the meeting of Matteo Damiani, Sinologist, and Dominique Musorrafiti, videoartist. In the last five years, in order to deepen different typology of video communication, they worked on documentary – both historical and institutional – and lightshows for the japanese musician Makoto Kawabata (Acid Mothers Temple, Gong) and the italian band Jennifer Gentle. For Jennifer Gentle (first italian band to sign a contract with SubPop, label of Nirvana, Soundgarden, Rapture and Afghan Whigs) they worked on three videoclips, showed in many festivals and on air on some majors international networks. In November 2005 abelvideo moved to Kunming, China. In 2006 abelvideo organized the BigScreen Italia Film Festival in Kunming, in collaboration with the Year of Italy in China Commitee, the Universities of Ca' Foscari (Venice), La Sapienza (Rome), L'Orientale (Naples), Yunnan Arts Institute and the Young Italian Artists Association. In the same year abelvideo shooted the first condom ads in China for an american NGO, Population Services International.
